On Wednesday 10th April, Dani was invested as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, or MBE for short! Dani received her honour from Her Majesty the Queen at Windsor Castle.
After the ceremony Dani said,
”This has been absolutely amazing for me, it’s all happened so quickly.
”British cycling has got such a great set-up and some fantastic staff, we train really hard and have got the best people supporting us.
”My family have been a major part of that as well, they’ve supported me through my whole career – I haven’t been easy to live with.
”It’s really special today, not something I expected – it’s a bonus really.”
Dani attended the launch of her new road team Wiggle-Honda ProCycling on Friday 25th January. The event held in London attracted a huge amount of attention from the media generating national TV, newspaper, and magazine coverage.
Dani said, “It’s incredible for me to have this opportunity. It’s great for women’s cycling as well and it’s such a professional set-up, it’s great. I can’t wait to race with the team. It’s going to be a great year.”
“Track still is my number one focus, but hopefully I’ll be able to help the team perform and get a result myself, once I’ve found my feet a bit.”
